​Ioan had the privilege to be mentored, professionally formed and influenced by a handful of the most senior, renown and greatest trial masters and legal minds of the Bucharest Bar.

Between 2001 and 2004, Ioan handled various high-profile, high-stake civil, business and criminal litigation cases as associate with court trial master Marian Teodosiu's law office and with Vitzman Webster & Partners.

Since 2004, throughout his practice with Mararu & Mararu SCA, Ioan worked with major powerhouses, multinational and international corporate clients in IT&C, Media, Tech, Financial Services, Natural Resources, Agriculture, Health, Pharma, Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Energy, Insurance, Automotive, Sports Apparel, Electronics, Consumer Goods, Leisure, Software, e-Commerce, Online Gaming and various other industries, Ioan's distinctive and rigorous service level commitment bringing market-leading capabilities with a wrath of other corporate and individual clients on, among others, M&A, civil, business, commercial, corporate, privatisations, environmental, greenfield and brownfield investments, media, marketing, privacy, labor, employment and insurance advisory and litigation, as well as on complex civil and criminal / white-collar / cybercrime / cryptocurrency litigation, including class-actions (business/trade associations, environmental, and cryptocurrency fraud).​

For five years, since February 2004, as senior partner and founder of Mararu & Mararu SCA, Ioan served as outside legal counsel for the General Union of Industrialists of Romania 1903 (UGIR-1903), the biggest Romanian Business Confederation encompassing over 80% of the industry and business employers in Romania, including as UGIR-1903's representative in the Social Dialogue Committees with the Ministry of Justice where he participated in the negotiations for the transpositions of EU law into the Romanian internal legislation. 

 

Among other of Ioan's past mandates within the same time-frame are assistance with drafting and negotiation of collective labor / bargaining agreements at national and industry branch levels, and trade law assistance and national litigation for business associations, federations and confederations.

Ioan counselled and represented various clients in Romanian first or appeal courts up to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, among which one of the biggest, publicly listed financial investment company in Romania, in a lawsuit involving over 7M shareholders and over 17M Euro share capital increase issue against a shareholder’s complaint. He also represented a group of security companies comprising of almost 80% of the Romanian security industry organised in the largest security employers organisation in Romania, in a case versus the Romanian Government and the Ministry of Interior of Romania, for the annulment a Government Decision, saving over 10 Million Euro in costs for the industry.
